W-window or Perineum window, a new ultrasound window for you to check prostatic disease . It was named by Dr Huynh.

I often use this window to examine a prostatic disease. Take an urethral calculus for example, it is a stone which impacted in urethra. As you were known, an urethra is a canal leading from the bladder, discharging the urine externally.

As a matter of fact, stone may have formed proximally and become stuck there or may have formed in urethra. The most common symtom is difficulty urinating. It is almost always that most cases have same site of obstruction is at prostatic urethra. In common, we use abdominal ultrasound to check a prostate with full bladder but it is difficult to visualize showing more details about prostatic disease actually. Therefore, lying abdominal ultrasound probe at the area which is known as perineum area between buttocks and under two testicles, through which ultrasound beams can easily reach the prostate. The prostate can be seen more clearly by using this window. To be more detailed please take a look at page2:
