A case of postoperative intra-abdominal abscess

A 39 years-old man who was hospitalised by severe pain on the right lower quadrant of his abdomen. As you know, he has been suffering from the laparoscopic appendectomy. To be more detailed he has been operated at the 12th hour and spending 3 days in hospital before coming back his home. But at the 10th day after the operation he felt bad. Therefore he went to hospital again. On ultrasound scanning we found that there was an mixed echogenic mass without well-defined at all. So that he has had an postoperative intra-abdominal abscess, i supposed.

However one arguement puts forward is that if he needs to suffer from another operation or not? According to an surgeon he needs to be treated by antibiotics for several days before making any decision actually. Please take a look at the following pictures about an mixed echogenic mass.
